Ecological aesthetics of freshwater wetlands: the importance of environmental heterogeneity and biodiversity

Ecological aesthetics study landscapes through different interactions of ecological and aesthetical properties of different environments. Ecological aesthetic of wetlands are quite specific, their ecological value can be extremely high, and they bring people many benefits Despite that, wetland ecosystems can be viewed quite negatively. Wetlands support a large number of species, some of which are wetland-dependant species. Wetlands are very variable, and they can have interesting spatial diversity. Environmental heterogeneity encapsulates both these properties of a landscapes, aesthetic, as well as ecological. And that is the reason why it is a crucial aspect of ecological aesthetic.
Eating as an Aesthetic Experience, or even as an Art?

This bachelor's thesis is focused primarily on options, whether you can consider food as an aesthetic experience or even if it is possible to call it art. The main points in this thesis are a rough look at food and the act of eating as a whole, which could then be called a type of "fine art." Pragmatic aesthetics will be the most significant factor in confirming or disproving this statement, as practical aesthetics focuses on everyday and mundane parts of life (as one of the few aesthetic and philosophical branches) and points out the unusualness and eventual aesthetic values. The last part of the thesis focuses on various eating habits and their aesthetic and ethical elements, which can sometimes even fundamentally influence the aesthetic experience of eating. The items listed in this thesis are the main features of an aesthetic experience related to eating and situations when it is possible to call eating an art.
Romantic Impulses in Victorian Literature

The thesis attempts to discuss the character of late Romantic literature and art as it developed in England throughout the Victorian period. It follows the assertion made by G. Hough that it is possible to identify a continuous presence of Romantic ideas and methods in the writings of some major Victorian authors, and reflects the fact that there was actually no consensus or prevailing unequivocal view of Romanticism at that time, as is evidenced in the contradicting statements of such writers as John Ruskin and Walter Pater. The first objective of the thesis is thus to define the characteristic features of English Romanticism as they can be tracked down in the formative period of the 18th century and the time of High Romanticism of the first decades of the following century, and to see what transforming changes these characteristics underwent during the Victorian era. The sources of Romantic sensibility are located in the revolutionary role of the scientific discoveries of the 17th century and a new focus of the philosophical writings of that period, concerning mainly operations of the human mind. Moral criticism of art in the concept of Noël Carroll and Berys Gaut

In this thesis I focus on the moral criticism of art in the conception of two american aestheticians, who came to the conclusion that it is a legitimate approach in the evaluation of art. Namely, I address the conception of Noël Carroll and his concept of moderate moralism and the conception of Berys Gaut and his concept of ethicism. I present these against the background of other approaches with which it is possible to evaluate a work of art. Moral criticism is explained through the relation of aesthetic and moral values, and the relationship of art and its reception. The work focuses on the views of Carroll and Gaut on cognitive gain from art and how it is connected with considerations of morality.
Moral Responsibility of Art

In my work I survey the debate about the legitimacy of moral criticism of art, which has developed in the 1990s in the field of analytic aesthetics. In three sections, I examine three basic positions in the debate - autonomism, moralism and immoralism - which, each in its own way, answer the basic question that motivates the whole debate, namely: what is the influence of the moral value of the work on its aesthetic or artistic value. I point out that the concepts of aesthetic and artistic values are not properly defined, which is the reason why the proponents of the various positions not only cannot come to an agreement, but they also cannot agree on the point of their disagreement.
The Phenomenon of Life within the Aesthetic Experience of Nature

The Verity in the Aesthetic Appreciation of Nature by A. Carlson and R. W. Hepburn Abstract The thesis being presented deals with the issues of aesthetic appreciation of nature. The aim of the work is to examine the possible meanings of the concept of verity as a feature of the aesthetic appreciation of nature. Firstly, the work analyzes and compare the theories of two recent authors, champions of the cognitive approach in the aesthetics of nature, Allen Carlson and Ronald. W. Hepburn. Each of them relates the aesthetic appreciation of nature with its discovering in a different way. Their approaches are analyzed in three main points. First, the analysis focuses on the terms the authors employ, second, it focuses on the significance the authors attribute to the veracity of the aesthetic experience, and finally, it describes the concept of thought component as it figures by both authors. Subsequently, these two approaches are compared and criticized. The final part of the work develops the ideas presented in the previous analysis. The thought component of the aesthetic experience is presented in a more relativist way and the advantages of such an open approach are pointed out. In her doctoral thesis the author would like to present the play Yoshitsune and the Thousand Cherry trees (Yoshitsune senbonzakura) as a unique piece of Japanese drama which has a great complexity and an outstanding place within the corpus of Japanese literature. Even if the play can be compared to Chushingura mono in its importance, Yoshitsune senbonzakura has not been widely translated to western languages. There are two exceptions, however: the English translation (Jones, Jr. 1993) and the German translation (Klopfenstein 1982). While comparing the two translations and using the most full original texts available (as preserved in Takeda Izumo and Namiki Sosuke Joruri Collection and Yuda Yoshio's Bunraku Joruri Collection), the author's goal is to present the play to Czech readers and its interpretation to Czech scholars. As for the flow and structure of the interpretation of Yoshitsune senbonzakura the author begins with an analysis of the historical background of the legend of Minamoto Yoshitsune, capturing the life of Yoshitsune from the time of Heiji rebellion (1159) when he was born to his death in 1189. Ontology of the aesthetic object and the value of the artwork, reproductions and forgery

This bachelor thesis is focused on issues originals and copies of works of art (reproductions and forgeries), namely problems of constitution of the aesthetic object and its value. In this purpose I compare Nelson Goodman´s theory of autheticity of works of art to Eddy Zamach´s theory of identity of works of art. I compare these theories with Roman Ingarden´s theory of aesthetic object. I am focusing too on influence of non-aesthetic´s informations about artefacts (originals, reproduction, forgery) on constitution of aesthetic object and its judgment of value marginally.
